BARRE, VT : Barre woman killed in ATV crash on Williamsville Road near the Hubbardston town on Saturday, 29th September 2018
A woman was was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash on Williamsville Road near the Hubbardston town line just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The Barre woman, in her mid-40s, was driving the four-wheel ATV near 1609 Williamsville Road when she struck a mailbox, lost control then struck a large rock, Barre police Sgt. William Recos said.
The woman was thrown from the ATV into the road, where she was found by a second ATV rider, who had been riding with her but did not witness the crash, Sgt. Recos said.
Police believe the pair had been riding on the nearby Ware River Rail Trail and had exited onto the street.
Police closed the road shortly after the crash and there were scanner reports that CPR was being performed on the victim. An advanced life support ambulance crew from Hubbardston went to the scene.
The woman’s name was not released pending notification of her family, police said.
