The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said officials are investigating after a man died Monday following a crash in Spartanburg County.
Officials said the crash involved one vehicle and happened at 12:14 p.m. along Highway 296 near Fray Road.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the victim was driving the car along Highway 296 when it went off the left side of the road, where it struck a utility pole and a tree. Troopers confirmed that the driver passed away at the scene.
The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 79-year-old Joe Tucker of Spartanburg. They added that he was the only person inside the vehicle when it crashed.
