ROOT, NY : Fatal tractor-trailer crash on May, Wednesday, 19th 2017

A Connecticut truck driver has been identified as the victim in this week's fatal tractor-trailer crash on the Thruway in Montgomery County, state police said.

James T. Bennett, 48, of Bridgeport, Conn., died when his semi drove off the south shoulder of the interstate in the town of Root for unknown reasons and hit multiple trees just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said. He died at the scene.

The accident remained under investigation Thursday. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 518-465-7377.
