A passenger was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center July 29 after suffering serious injuries in a crash that police say was caused by alcohol and speed.
At 1:15 p.m., Deputy Dale Brown of Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded to single-vehicle rollover crash on New England Road. Initial reports indicated an occupant of the vehicle was trapped inside.
Once on scene, police identified Albert Rhodes, 46, of Searsmont as the driver of the Toyota passenger car. A passenger in the vehicle suffered broken bones and internal injuries, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office, and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight helicopter.
Rhodes was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence, Class D, and driving to endanger, Class D. Police said alcohol and speed were factors in the crash. Rhodes was taken to Waldo County Correctional Center where he was later released on $400 cash bail.
