4-year-old killed in car crash in Washington Parish
The Louisiana State Police are investigating a vehicle crash that left a 4-year-old dead in Washington Parish Monday.According to police, just after 9:00 p.m., 26-year-old Linda Beard was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima southbound on La. 21. She had 4-year-old Lavonne Beard in the car with her.A 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 55-year-old Joan Ezell was traveling northbound on La 21, and had 48-year-old Robby Burke as the passenger in her car.Beard, for unknown reasons, veered to the left, crossing the center lane, and hitting the Malibu head-on.Lavonne was not properly restrained in a booster seat at the time of the accident and was killed in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Linda Beard was seriously injured and transported to a hospital in New Orleans. Ezell and Burke were also injured seriously and were taken to a hospital in Mandeville.All adults involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts.At this time, it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash but blood samples were taken from all people involved.Linda Beard has been charged with two counts of negligent injuring and further charges are possible. The crash currently remains under investigation.
