Ocala, FL : 20-year-old Dunnellon man died after a car crash in southwest Marion County on Friday morning, April 8, 2016

A 20-year-old Dunnellon man died after a car crash Friday morning in southwest Marion County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

The FHP release said Simeon McLain was pronounced dead at Ocala Regional Medical Center following the 8:17 a.m. crash.

McLain was driving a 2003 Saab north in the southbound lane of Southwest 140th Avenue, south of State Road 40 "at a high rate of speed after passing a school bus (and) was attempting to pass another vehicle as both vehicles were cresting a hill," according to the FHP release.

The release said McLain "swerved to the right to avoid a southbound vehicle" and traveled 300 feet on the grass shoulder of the road and then struck a utility pole.

The release said McLain wasn't wearing a seatbelt and that no other injuries were reported.
