Tallahassee, FL : Mississippi man hit, killed by car in Escambia County on Wednesday, January 4th 2017

A Mississippi man was killed Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle while walking along U.S. 90.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Ricky Polk, 52, of Saucier, Mississippi, was walking along U.S. 90 near Cove Road around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Marlon Shelton, 56, of Cantonment.

Shelton pulled over after impact. Polk was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is undetermined if Polk was in the roadway or on the shoulder prior to the crash. Charges are pending the investigation.
