Bowling Green, KY : Two people dead, one injured in Natcher Parkway collision on Monday, April 25, 2016

The Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green responded to a two vehicle injury collision today at approx. 10:41 am near the 12 mile marker on the William Natcher Parkway in Warren County.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Patrick Powell (49) of Elkton was operating a 2016 Volvo dump truck and was traveling northbound on the William Natcher Parkway in the right lane when he stated that he was distracted and did not see a slow moving vehicle, a 1998 Kia passenger car being operated by Jonathan McDaniel (32) of Morgantown, who was also in the right lane and traveling northbound. Powell struck the rear of the other vehicle where the dump truck then overrode the passenger car, and then pushing it into the guardrail where the front passenger of McDaniel's car was ejected.

Mr. McDaniel, the operator of the Kia, and the front passenger that was ejected, John McDaniel (56) also of Morgantown, were both subsequently flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for life-threatening injuries. Cindy McDaniel (52) of Morgantown, a back passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner's Office. No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Mr. Powell was not injured in the collision and was wearing a seat belt.

The investigation is still ongoing and being conducted by Trooper Tomie Walters. No other details are available for release at this time.
