Spencer County, IN : 67-year-old Violet E. Patterson, and Velma L. Bolin died after a crash involving a car and tractor-trailer in Spencer County on Monday night, May 4, 2015

Two Perry County women were killed on Monday night in what Indiana State Police say was a car and tractor-trailer crash in Spencer County.

The women have been identified as Violet Patterson and Velma Bolin. Troopers say the crash happened around 9:15pm central time.

ISP says Patterson was driving a 2003 Toyota Echo heading east on State Road 70 near Chrisney. Troopers says Patterson was approaching US 231 and crossed the southbound lanes without stopping as she moved into the northbound lanes. Then she drove into the path of a 2001 Kenworth Truck whose driver did not have enough time to avoid contact. Troopers say the car was pushed over highway signs.

The Spencer County Coroner's Office pronounced Patterson and Bolin dead. Both women were from Cannelton, Indiana. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky for evaluation.
