East Harlem, NY : 36-year-old pedestrian died after a hit-and-run accident on Madison Avenue and East 115th Street on Tuesday night, March 22, 2016

New York City police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that took the life of a 36-year-old pedestrian.

It happened late Tuesday night on Madison Avenue and East 115th Street in East Harlem.

Police say the victim, Christopher Costa of Manhattan, suffered trauma about the body and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators determined that a Sport Utility Vehicle struck Costa as it was traveling north on Madison Avenue. The driver fled the scene.

There were no immediate arrests.
