W. Alabama player killed in car accident in Florida
West Alabama football player Anthony Robinson has been killed in a car accident.Robinson’s high school coach, Andro Williams, said the 19-year-old freshman defensive back and his 12-year-old cousin died in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 43 near his hometown of Linden, Ala. Williams said Monday the vehicle Robinson was driving collided with an 18-wheeler.Williams says Robinson started four years at quarterback and defensive back. He says counselors and ministers spoke to the Linden High School players on Monday.Williams says Robinson “was just a kid that enjoyed living life.”West Alabama coach Will Hall says Robinson “was a tremendous young man.”Florida will have RB Jones back: No. 10 Florida will have running back Matt Jones back against Miami.Coach Will Muschamp says Jones, who missed the last month while recovering from a viral infection, will play Saturday. The sophomore is listed as the starter on the team’s updated depth chart.Without Jones, backup Mack Brown carried 25 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-6 victory over Toledo in the season opener.
