Watsontown, PA : Lois A. Haas, 80, dies in Route 54 crash on Tuesday, April 12, 2016

An elderly woman was killed Tuesday when state police said she failed to stop her car at a stop sign and drove onto Route 54 and into the side of a tractor-trailer.

Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley said Lois A. Haas, 80, of White Deer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her cause of death is attributed to “blunt force trauma to the head.” She was not wearing a seat belt, Kelley said.

The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. at Musser Lane and Route 54.
