Sparta,KY: One Injured in fatal crash at the Kentucky Speedway Later died at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center- September 14th 2014

After no local authorities stepped in to investigate the fatal crash at the Kentucky Speedway for more than a month, the county sheriff has stepped in. Stephen Cox, 30, of Decatur, Indiana, died Sept. 21 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to the Hamilton County Coroner. The crash in which he sustained his injuries occurred Sept. 14 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. When the crash occurred, no local authorities investigated. Last week, the Gallatin County Sheriff Josh Neale notified Cox's family lawyer that his office would be conducting an investigation. "This is a circumstance where a lot of questions were raised and it's very good that a public authority is involved now," said Gary Leppla, a Dayton attorney representing Cox's family.
