Auburndale, FL : Pedestrian killed in crash involving Polk County Sheriff's Office patrol car early Friday morning on June 20, 2014

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a traffic fatality involving a marked Polk County Sheriff's Office patrol car.

The person was hit and killed early Friday morning at the intersection of 42nd Street and Havendale Boulevard in Auburndale, authorities said.

The deputy was not injured.

The eastbound lanes of travel on Havendale Boulevard are closed deputies investigate. The westbound lanes are open, but motorists should expect delays.

The names of those involved were not released.
