Richmond,VI : Two killed in separate crashes in Fredericksburg and Amelia on June, Sunday 4th 2017
A motorcyclist died after crashing into a tractor-trailer on the shoulder of Interstate 95 in Fredericksburg early Sunday, police said.
The motorcyclist ran off the road about 3:55 a.m. and struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped on the right shoulder of I-95 south, according to Virginia State Police. The motorcyclist was ejected, and the motorcycle spun into oncoming traffic.
The motorcyclist, whose identity was not immediately released, died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Tamir Wright, 35, was not injured. He was charged with being improperly stopped on the highway, state police said.
Separately, state police reported that one person was killed Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Amelia County.
The crash occurred about 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of westbound U.S. Route 360 and Whitaker Road. A 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup pulling a horse trailer was traveling west on Route 360 when a 2008 Chevrolet Impala pulled out from Whitaker Road into the path of the pickup, state police said, and the pickup’s driver was unable to avoid striking the Chevrolet.
