HARRISON COUNTY, MS : A Navy Seabee stationed in Gulfport on May, Saturday 6th 2017

A Navy Seabee stationed in Gulfport has been identified as the man killed in a wreck on Hwy. 15 Saturday afternoon.

Jimmy Truong, 27, was driving his motorcycle northbound on the highway when he lost control of the bike, going down a nearby embankment. Officials say Truong was wearing a helmet and protective gear but that excessive speed played a big role in the accident.

According to Harrison County Chief Deputy Coroner Brian Switzer, the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the chest. Switzer said a toxicology report was ordered, which is standard practice, but isn't expected to show anything out of the ordinary.

Truong was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was originally from San Diego.

The highway was temporarily shut down after the accident a few miles north of Lamey Bridge Road.
