Hopkinton, MA : Two injured in five-vehicle Pike crash in Hopkinton on Monday, April 10, 2017

Two people were injured Monday during a morning rush-hour crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike involving two tractor-trailers, a box truck, a car and an SUV, authorities said.

A 54-year-old Pittsfield man driving a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer was taken to UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with “incapacitating injuries” that aren’t believed to be life-threatening, Massachusetts State Police said in a release.

A 31-year-old Belchertown man driving a Hino box truck registered in New Jersey was also taken to UMass-Memorial with less serious injuries.

The crash occurred at 8:08 a.m. on the Mass. Pike east near the Interstate-495 exit in Hopkinton.

The other vehicles were an International tractor-trailer driven by a Gloversville, New York, man; a Chevrolet Terrain driven by a 32-year-old Worcester woman, and a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 32-year-old Agawam man.

Police are still trying to determine the “sequence of events” that led to the crash. No one has been charged or cited.

State Police remained at the crash scene until 12:20 p.m.
