Mukwonago, WI : Motorcyclist killed in crash that shuts down I-43 for hours on May 24, 2014

A 50-year-old Hartford man died Saturday night when his motorcycle crashed on I-43 in the Village of Mukwonago, forcing the closure of the interstate for more than five hours.

The motorcycle briefly left road before striking the median barrier just before 9:30 p.m., and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said.

The highway was closed in both directions in the area of Highway 83 until it reopened at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

No other injuries were reported. The Village of Mukwonago Police and Fire departments also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation, the sheriff's department said.
