Dallas, TX : One driver killed, 1 arrested in fiery hit-and-run crash in West Dallas on Monday, May 23, 2016
One driver died and another was arrested after a fiery hit-and-run crash late Monday in West Dallas.
Police responded to the 200 block of West Mockingbird Lane at 10:30 p.m. to find a Toyota hybrid car engulfed in flames. Firefighters battling the blaze found the driver dead inside.
Moments later, authorities got a call about another crash nearby at Irving Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane. They found three men in a Dodge Challenger with heavy front-end damage.
Police believe the Challenger crashed into the Toyota while both were on the Mockingbird Lane/Westmoreland Road bridge over Trinity River floodway. The Toyota spun and burst into flames, with the driver pinned inside.
The Challenger continued to Irving Boulevard. The driver was arrested on a charge of failure to stop and render aid. Other charges are possible.
The identities of the drivers have not been released.
