Sutherland, NE : 34-year-old woman dies from injuries sustained in single-vehicle crash in western Nebraska on Friday evening, August 8, 2014
A 34-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustained in a single-vehicle crash in western Nebraska.
The North Platte Telegraph reports that Janel Godfrey, of Sutherland, was driving on the eastern edge of the city Friday evening when she crashed into a tree.
Lincoln County Sheriff Cpl. Merit Newman says witnesses told officials that Godfrey was traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses say Godfrey's 1993 Toyota Camry went airborne as it crossed some railroad tracks and landed in a residential yard, where it struck the tree.
Godrey, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead around 10:40 p.m. Friday.
Newman says speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
