Clarksville,TN : Woman killed, 4-year-old paralyzed after car crash avoiding deer on December, Sunday 10th 2017

Shannon Turnbow spent her life comforting others as they died and helping their families through their sorrow.

But she can't comfort her family.

The 39-year-old hospice nursing assistant was killed last month and her 4-year-old daughter was paralyzed after she swerved to miss a deer and hit a tree instead.

Turnbow was driving north on Marion Road on Nov. 14 with her daughter in a booster back in the backseat of a 2017 Nissan Sentra north when the crash happened.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Turnbow said a deer ran out and she ran off the road to the right, hit a hit and then struck a tree.

Both she and her daughter, 4-year-old Kalynn, were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Shannon Turnbow died Nov. 24. Kalynn remains hospitalized at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
