San Antonio, TX : Authorities identify 2 women, ages 91 and 25, as victims in separate fatal car crashes in Bexar Co on Friday, 26th August, 2016
Two people who died Friday morning in separate car accidents on small highways on the outskirts of Bexar County have been identified by the medical examiner's office Tuesday.
Ruth Farrin Bullock, 91, and Heather N. Hughes, 25, were killed in car accidents near Bulverde and St. Hedwig, respectively.
Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith said in an interview with that both accidents occurred around 10:30 a.m. Friday.The first involved a green car that crashed about six miles east of Bulverde on FM 1863 and caused the two-lane highway to be closed in both directions while authorities worked to investigate and clear the scene.
Bullock lost control of the vehicle, hit a tree and was ejected before dying at the scene moments later. There were no other passengers in the car and there's nothing suspicious about the crash, Keith said.
The medical examiner's office listed her cause of death as blunt force injuries caused by the accident.
Investigators are looking into the possibility the woman may have had a medical episode that caused the crash, Keith said.
The second fatal crash occurred on FM 1518 in St. Hedwig and also closed the road while authorities worked the scene.Keith said deputies were responding to a reckless driver call in the area when a minivan collided with an 18-wheeler. The big rig driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but the woman driving the minivan, Hughes, died at the scene.
Investigators are working to determine how the vehicles collided, Keith said.
