Benton, MO : Three people seriously injured in Missouri crash on Sunday, March 27, 2016

An accident in Scott County, Missouri Sunday seriously injured three Region 8 residents.

According to a crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1999 Lincoln Town Car was heading south on Route 77 at around 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

The Town Car crossed the center line and headed into the path of a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The Eclipse then ran off the road to avoid the car.

Police say that totaled the Eclipse and injured Michael Cathey, 38, James Nesmith, 41 and Richard Redmon, 27.

The three victims are from Poplar Bluff, MO.

Emergency crews airlifted Cathey and Redmon to the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

An ambulance took Nesmith to the same hospital.

The driver of the Town Car, Lisa Scherer, 51, of Oran, MO, was not injured.

Cathey and Nesmith were the only people in the crash not wearing seat belts, according to MSHP.
