Thibodaux, LA : Terrebonne Parish crash kills pedestrian on Sunday, 11th March 2018

A pedestrian was killed this morning when he was struck by a pickup truck while walking in the the northbound lane of La. 57 in the Ashland area, State Police said.

The victim was identified as 41-year-old Jalaine Norris, of Kenner.

Brooke Hyde, 38, of Houma, was traveling north on La. 57 at Express Boulevard in a 2016 GMC Sierra when he hit Norris, said Trooper First Class Jesse LaGrange. Police were notified shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Norris suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office, LaGrange said.

Hyde was not injured in the crash and was wearing her seat belt, he said.

LaGrange said it was unknow if Norris was impaired, and standard toxicology tests are pending. Hyde submitted to a breath test that showed no alcohol present. The investigation is ongoing.
