Two Tampa Bay area law enforcement officers are recovering from separate traffic accidents on Sunday.
The names of the Pasco County sheriff's deputy and Clearwater police officer, who were involved in two separate crashes, had not been released by late Sunday.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, the Pasco sheriff's deputy was involved in a three-vehicle crash on County Line Road west of the Suncoast Parkway.
The deputy was traveling eastbound on County Line Road and collided into the back of a car waiting to make a left turn, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Gaskins said in a news release. The impact propelled the car attempting to make a left turn into a westbound vehicle.
The deputy was en route to work, Pasco County sheriff's spokeswoman Melanie Snow said.
Three people, including the Pasco deputy, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, Snow said. A fourth person went to the hospital for treatment of more serious injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Charges are pending, the release states.
County Line Road, which was temporarily closed near the Suncoast Parkway, now is open in both directions.
In Pinellas County, a Clearwater police officer was injured in a single-car crash at Drew Street and Evergreen Avenue about 5 p.m. Sunday.
The police officer was injured when the police vehicle the officer was driving hit a tree while swerving to avoid another vehicle in the road.
The officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Clearwater police spokesman Rob Shaw said in a news release.
The investigation continues into the cause of the crash, the release states.
