Willcox, AZ : Wrong-way collision results in minor injuries on February, Wednesday 28th 2018
A two-vehicle rollover involving a wrong-way driver occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at milepost 353 on eastbound I-10 near Willcox.
A vehicle was reported traveling the wrong way, colliding head-on with a second vehicle, according to the Duty Office with the Arizona Department of Public Safety in Phoenix.
The Cochise County Sheriff's Office, along with the City of Willcox Volunteer and Bowie fire departments, were called to the scene.
Upon arrival, the agencies found the wrong-way driver, apparently intoxicated, to be alert and still in the car, caught by her seatbelt, according to the incident report.
After being pulled out of the rear driver side door, she was evaluated by medics, who found some injuries to her left shoulder. She was transported by ambulance to Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox for treatment of her injuries.
“The severity of the wrong-way driver’s injuries is unknown,” the DPS Duty Office said.
A passenger in the other vehicle also reported minor injuries.
The collision blocked the eastbound lane for more than an hour.
