A 63-year-old Biloxi woman died when a vehicle hit her bicycle as she was crossing U.S. Highway 90. Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the victim as Marie Brandenberg. Police say she was crossing the highway from the beach at a crosswalk at Beauvoir Road. Hargrove tells The Sun Herald that the driver of a speeding vehicle slammed on brakes, lost control of the vehicle and slid into her. Hargrove said the crash was reported at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday and Brandenberg was pronounced dead at 3:43 p.m. Police Sgt. Jackie Rhodes says the crash is under investigation.
