Columbia, TN : Three vehicles crash in Columbia intersection on Wednesday, February 1st 2017

Three vehicles collided in the intersection of James Campbell and Carmack Boulevard on Wednesday with one passenger airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment.

According to a report form the Columbia Fire Department, the collision occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m., briefly blocking traffic in all directions.

A Jeep Wrangler was knocked on its side and sandwiched between a GMC pickup and compact car.

All three vehicles sustained significant damage to their front ends.

Columbia firefighters extracted one individual, a passenger riding in the compact car, who was then carried from the scene on a stretcher and transported by Maury Regional EMS to Maury County Medical Center.

The driver from the same vehicle was given oxygen at the scene and transported to Maury Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Columbia Fire Department Capt. Roy Brooks said a total of four people were involved in the accident.

Brooks said the department dispatched a ladder truck and rescue truck to the scene. Two EMS units and two officers from the Columbia Police Department also responded.
