WEST MIDDLESEX, PA : A multi-vehicle accident on Thursday, January, 4th 2018

All lanes have reopened on Interstate 80 westbound in the area of a multi-vehicle accident that happened Thursday night.
The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. on I-80 in West Middlesex, across from the welcome center and just over the Ohio border.
Four tractor-trailers crashed and another four to five cars slid off the road to avoid hitting them, according to dispatchers. One of the semis flipped over.
Multiple ambulances responded to the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation were there as well, along with agencies from West Middlesex, Shenango Township, Hermitage and Hubbard.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
This particular stretch of I-80 is known for getting quick bursts of heavy snow.
