Laurens County, S.C : Driver dies after Car veers off road, hits tree on Highway 114 near Laurens early Friday, April 10, 2015

A Laurens County driver died early Friday when the car went off the road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the wreck happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Highway 114 near Laurens.

The driver of a 2004 Mazda sedan was headed east on Highway 114 when the car went off the left side of the road, troopers said.

The car hit a tree, trapping the driver inside.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident is still under investigation.
