Pender County, NC : Man dies in crash involving SUV and Tractor-Trailer near Burgaw on Friday night, February 10, 2017

North Carolina Highway Patrol says a man died when the SUV he was traveling in was hit by a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Highway 421 and Malpass Corner Road near Burgaw in Pender County. The crash happened after 5:00pm Friday night.

Troopers say a woman driving the SUV ran the stop sign at the intersection, and was hit by trailer travelling on Highway 421. Crews took the driver to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck was also injured but his injuries are not life threatening.

According to troopers, the driver of the SUV will be charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

Troopers did not provide the identities of the victims of the crash.
