Pensacola, FL : Deputy critical, and several other people injured after a serious wreck in Escambia County on Monday evening, April 11, 2016

An Escambia County Sheriff's deputy is in critical condition and several other people were transported to the hospital after a serious wreck Monday evening on Beulah Road in Escambia County.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Deputy Hector Escajeda, 31, of Pensacola was traveling south on Beulah Road in a Chevy Tahoe. John Yvarra, 58, of Pensacola was traveling west in a Dodge pickup on U.S. 90 approaching the intersection of Beulah Road.

Escajeda failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, the press release states. Yvarra was unable to stop and the front of his vehicle collided with the left side of Escajeda's Tahoe.

Escajeda was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
