Des Moines , IA : 30 - Years old woman Killed in Vehicle Collision near the intersection of Edison Avenue on Saturday night , January 3rd 2015

Des Moines police and medics responded to the scene of a vehicle collision around 8 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Southeast 14th Street and Edison Avenue in Des Moines.

Officials said a PT Cruiser broadsided a Pontiac Grand Prix when the Grand Prix attempted to turn northbound on Southeast 14th Street from Edison Avenue.

The driver of the Grand Prix, 35-year-old Alvarez Sedano, and his passenger, 43-year-old Elemuel Mayorga, were leaving a nearby car lot when they were hit.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, 30-year-old Jessica Hiskey, was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where she later died.

Toxicology reports are still pending, but police said both speed and intoxication appear to have been factors in the crash.

Officials said Sedano and Mayorga are expected to survive their injuries.
