San Jose, CA : 72-year-old Gilroy man killed in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 85 near Cottle Road early Wednesday morning, February 3, 2016

A 72-year-old Gilroy man killed in a solo-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office as Shinzui Sanada.

Sanada was driving 70 mph in the fast lane of southbound Highway 85 near Cottle Road around 1:35 a.m. when he lost control of his 1999 Toyota, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP said the car veered off the roadway and slammed into a fence.

Sanada died of his injuries after an ambulance transported him from the scene, according to the CHP.

The CHP said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
