Corsicana, TX: 3 killed, 5 family members injured in Texas wrong-way crash on Monday, July 20th 2015

A driver going the wrong way slammed into a family’s SUV, setting off a deadly chain-reaction on a Texas highway, authorities said.The violent collision on Monday knocked the family’s Nissan Pathfinder onto its side where it was hit by two other vehicles, according to local media reports.The driver of the pickup and the Nissan were killed, and a 14-year-old from the SUV died later at the hospital.The crash happened about 11 a.m. on Interstate 45 near Corsicana, about 50 miles southeast of Dallas.A husband and wife were riding in the Nissan with six kids when the Chevy Silverado pickup shot north on the southbound lane, barreling head-on into the family.The mother and five of the kids were hospitalized in unknown condition. None of the names were released.The fatal wreck shut down the interstate’s southbound lanes, blocking traffic for miles as investigators worked the gut-wrenching scene.
