Springfield,IL: Virden woman cited for DUI after crash on Illinois 4 on December, Tuesday 5th 2017

A Virden woman who was allegedly driving drunk and without a license drove off the side of Illinois 4 between Chatham and Auburn on Tuesday evening and crashed into another vehicle, police said.

Illinois State Police reported that Teresa J. Gray, 65, was traveling north on Illinois 4, north of Alpha Road, at 5:10 p.m. when her vehicle went off the right side of the road. She then veered back across the center line and struck a southbound vehicle that contained a 73-year-old Springfield woman and a 4-year-old Springfield boy whose names were not immediately released.

Both vehicles came to rest on the west side of the road.

Police said both drivers and the child were taken to local hospitals for treatment. An initial report did not characterize the severity of their injuries.

Gray was cited for improper lane usage, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving while under the influence of alcohol, police said.
