A 19-year-old woman is dead following a crash between a car and a dump truck on US-41.
The accident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. Friday.
According to the Ishpeming City Police, a National Guard Convoy was going east on US-41 when it came up on a stoplight. The convoy stopped, leaving a gap by the driveway near the Family Dollar. The 19-year-old Ishpeming woman, driving a 1999 Subaru, pulled out and attempted to turn left. The dump truck heading east bound on US-41 collided with her vehicle on the driver's side.
The driver of the dump truck, a 46-year-old Marquette man, was transported to Bell Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released with minor injuries.
Preliminary finding show that the driver of the Subaru was at fault in the crash, which remains under investigation. Names of the drivers have not yet been released.
Assisting the Ishpeming Police were Ishpeming Township Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff's Department, the Michigan State Police, the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division out of Iron Mountain, Marquette Rescue Unit 131 and the Ishpeming Fire Department.
