NEWPORT NEWS, VA : Ambulance driver charged in crash that killed motorcyclist on Wednesday, 14th September 2016

The driver of a private medical ambulance has been charged in a crash that killed a 29-year-old motorcyclist last week.

Newport News police said in a news release that Christopher T. McDonald was hit on the night of Sept. 7 when an ambulance driven by 21-year-old Dyllan D. Harrison pulled out of a gas station. McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harrison was been charged with failure to yield the right-of-way while he was entering a public highway from private property.

Police say Harrison was issued a summons for the charge. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
