Decatur, IL : Eldorado lanes reopen after crash on April, Sunday 16th 2017
Two drivers and a passenger were lucky to escape serious injury Monday morning when their vehicles collided at Eldorado and Main streets, flipping one of them onto its roof.
Both drivers and a woman passenger in the flipped vehicle – a van – had all got clear of the wreckage when firefighters arrived about 9:30 a.m.
Both drivers refused hospital treatment but the passenger was taken to hospital for further medical attention after being treated on scene by firefighters.
Lt. Neil Elder, with the Decatur Fire Department, said firefighters acted quickly to prevent chemicals and fluids that were draining out of one of the vehicles from entering a storm drain. “They shored-up the storm drains and cleaned up all the mess left from the accident,” added Elder.
Eastbound lanes on Eldorado were shut down by the accident for a short time but were reopen by 10:30 a.m. Police accident reports describing how the accident happened were not yet complete Monday evening.
