Rapid City, SD : Pedestrian killed after being struck by car on Wednesday October 12 2016

A pedestrian was killed early Wednesday morning after being struck and run over by a vehicle, according to police.

According to a news release from the Rapid City Police Department, two men were walking in the 800 block of East North Street around midnight when they tried to fight another male subject on the south sidewalk of the street.

That subject crossed East North Street to the north to get help, and was pursued by the other two males. As they crossed the street, police say one of them was struck by a vehicle westbound on East North Street.

The male who was struck died from injuries related to the crash. He has not been identified, pending notification of family.

Police say the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The crash is still under investigation.
