Bethel,ME : Maine Marine killed in Osprey crash comes home on September, Thursday 14th 2017

The Maine Marine who died after a U.S. military plane crashed off the coast of Australia returned home one final time on Thursday.

Capt. Benjamin Cross, 26, was from Bethel.

His body arrived Thursday afternoon at Logan Airport. A motorcade will escort him to Bethel.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at the Telstar Regional High School on Saturday Sept. 16 at 11 a.m., Cross’ obituary from Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Services said. A service with full military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery on North Road in Bethel.

Ryan Cross said his brother joined the Marines because he loved challenges and loved to fly.

The MV-22 Osprey had launched from the USS Bonhomme Richard and was conducting regularly scheduled operations when it crashed into the water.
