TAMPA, FL : 2 women on scooter killed in crash at the intersection of Florida Ave and Garland Court on Saturday, 12th January 2019

wo women died Saturday after the scooter they were riding struck a pickup truck in Tampa, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Florida Ave and Garland Court at about 4:30 p.m.

Troopers said the scooter was headed westbound on Garland Court, then turned left onto Florida Ave. in front of a pickup truck going northbound, causing a collision.

Both women were ejected from the scooter. One died at the scene of the crash. The other was rushed to an area hospital where they later died. Their names were not released.

Investigators do not suspect impairment was a factor in the crash.

Charges are pending, according to the report, but it's unclear why.
