Fairfield, CA : 61-year-old male suffers life threatening injuries after being struck by driver Hamu Kalibi, 40, who was allegedly under the influence, on East Tabor Avenue in Fairfield on Saturday, Aug 8, 2015

A Fairfield man in is the hospital with life-threatening injuries today after he was struck by a driver who was under the influence.

Officers responded to a call at 8:50 p.m. of a collision involving a pedestrian being hit by an SUV on East Tabor Avenue. The victim, a 61-year-old male whose name has not been released, was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street.

The driver, 40-year-old Hamu Kalibi from Fairfield, stopped and remained and the scene.

The victim was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notification. Kalibi was arrested for felony driving under the influence causing injury.
