Polk City, FL : Semi-truck overturns in 2-vehicle crash off I-4 on Wednesday morning, January 4, 2017

A Wednesday morning crash near County Road 557 resulted in an overturned semi-truck and the blockage of an Interstate 4 on-ramp.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol's traffic crash report, units were dispatched at 6:40 a.m. to a collision on the eastbound ramp for exit 48 on I-4. Polk County Fire Rescue and the Polk County Sheriff's Office arealso responded. on the scene.

Philip Perez, 29, of Lakeland was driving his GMC Yukon the wrong way on the ramp when he collided with the semi-truck driven by John Lascala, 53, of Sarasota, according to the report.

The accident led to the closure of the ramp after the semi-truck overturned in that area, resulting in the release of 100 gallons of diesel fuel and a small amount of anti-freeze. There were no injuries.
