Los Angeles, CA : One injured in multi-car crash on 10 Freeway near downtown on Friday morning, August 22, 2014
At least one person was injured Friday morning in a multi-vehicle collision on the 10 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles, shutting down several freeway lanes and leaving motorists stuck in traffic as the morning commute began.
The crash on the eastbound 10 Freeway at Central Avenue was reported about 5:55 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
The collision, which involved at least two vehicles, temporarily shut down the numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes and left one vehicle overturned on the freeway, according to Cassidy.
At least one person was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott. No details on the victim were immediately available.
A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 6:12 a.m. The roadway was finally cleared about 6:50 a.m.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
