Austin,TX : 18-year-old ATV rider, Natalia Aide Ferrer, dies after desert crash in Mission Ridge area on February, Saturday 24th 2018

An 18-year-old woman was killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash during the weekend in the Mission Ridge area, El Paso County sheriff's officials said Monday.

Natalia Aide Ferrer was riding an ATV when it crashed at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the desert near Mission Ridge Boulevard, officials said.

Ferrer, of El Paso, was taken to a hospital, where she later died, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.

The desert area is just beyond the El Paso city limits, east of the Socorro Student Activities Complex.

The Sheriff's Office previously has conducted desert operations with four-wheel vehicles to curb unsafe recreational shooting, underage drinking and other problems in the area.
