Washington, PA : Two drivers injured in head-on crash on Route 21 near Carmichaels on Thursday October 13th 2016
Two drivers were seriously injured Thursday night in a head-on crash on Route 21 in Cumberland Township that closed the highway for about five hours, township police Chief Craig Miller said.
The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Furman Highway near the former Halliburton complex, Miller said.
The drivers, Klayton Jenkins, 17, of Adah, and Rebecca Robinson, 26, of Carmichaels, both were flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., with major injuries, Miller said. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning she had no patient information on either person.
Allison Wilson, 16, of McClellandtown, a passenger in Jenkins’ pickup truck, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Ruby, Miller said.
Miller said a state police crash reconstructionist is investigating the accident and was expected to inspect the vehicles Monday afternoon. Jenkins was traveling east in his pickup truck with a passenger while Robinson was traveling west in her car, Miller said. He did not know which vehicle crossed the centerline.
The road was closed until about 2:30 a.m. while police investigated and crews removed the wreckage.
Carmichaels-Cumberland firefighters assisted at the scene while Jefferson firefighters redirected traffic.
