Sutter, CA : Motorcyclist dies in crash in the 8500 block of Pass Road on Sunday, May 1, 2016

A man died Sunday when his motorcycle hit a pickup backing a horse trailer into a driveway in the 8500 block of Pass Road in Sutter, police said.

The motorcyclist was traveling west "at a high rate of speed," California Highway Patrol Capt. Shon Harris said, and the rider didn't have time to stop before the collision.
The CHP received the call at 7:52 p.m.

It was near dark but not yet fully dark, and the woman had put out warning flares, Harris said.
"I would guess there was probably at least 75 feet of skid," Harris said. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The woman was not hurt.

Police did not release the names of either party Sunday. It was too soon to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Harris said.
