Charlottesville, VA : Waynesboro man killed in Crozet car crash on Friday, December 16th 2016
Albemarle County police are investigating a car wreck that killed a 22-year-old Waynesboro man and left a woman injured early Friday.
According to a county police spokeswoman, at about 4 a.m. Friday, Christopher M. Spears was heading westbound in the 4500 block of Rockfish Gap Turnpike near Crozet when the car he was driving crossed over both lanes, went down an embankment and hit a tree head on.Authorities said Spears was killed in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said. A woman who also was in the car was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries.
The roadway was shut down between Brownsville and Miller School roads until about 8:30 a.m.
