Itasca County, MN : 18–year–old Kayleen Johson airlifted to Duluth after car loses control on Friday night, November 21, 2014
A Deer River teen was airlifted to a Duluth hospital Friday night after the car she was riding in lost control, and crashed.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol 45–year–old Michael Hill, also of Deer River, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix southbound on Highway Six, near milepost 90 in Itasca County, when he lost control.
The car swerved into the northbound lanes, and ended up in the east ditch after hitting two trees. Hill had no injuries.
18–year–old Kayleen Johson was initially taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Deer River, and then taken by helicopter to Essentia St. Mary's in Duluth with non life–threatening injuries.
Officers say alcohol was not detected, and that neither passenger was wearing a seat belt.
